Nelly, Cheb Khaled to perform at male-only concert in Saudi Arabia
Well-know American rapper Nelly is all set to perform at a concert next month along with Algerian singer Cheb Khaled in Jeddah.
Though it may be positive news for some as concerts and musical events are rare in the kingdom, the country’s women residents are not happy as it is going to be a male-only concert.
Women took to Instagram and Twitter to express their disapproval calling it “stupid” to hold a male-only concert, US media reported.
Some people also complained about inviting a man accused of sexual assault in the country. Nelly was arrested in October in Washington, after a woman accused him of raping her on his tour bus.
In May another American, country music singer Toby Keith held a concert, again male-only, in Riyadh.}

Brazil’s Bundchen, 37, who has held the top spot since 2002, was ranked second this year with an estimated $17.5 million, Forbes said.
Chrissy Teigen joined the Forbes list for the first time, taking the no.3 spot with estimated earnings of $13.5 million. Teigen, 31, the wife of singer John Legend, is also prolific on Twitter and Instagram and has deals with brands like Smirnoff to boost her earnings from fashion.

“With social media, there are more opportunities to create your own content and use your voice,” Ivan Bart, president of IMG Models told Forbes. “The stars are using it.”
Forbes said that the world’s 10 highest-paid models banked a cumulative $109.5 million for the year, before taxes and fees. It estimated earnings from income from cosmetics, fragrance and other contracts based on interviews with managers, agents and brand executives.}
Would love to star in an Iranian film, says Mahira
After doing powerful roles in both Pakistan and across the border, Mahira Khan has expressed her desire to work in the Iranian cinema.
Clad in beautiful pink sari, the actor spoke about her life, movies and random things in her talk in a session at the Faiz International Festival.
“I would love to work in a foreign film. That could be hard because of the language but that is the most interesting aspect of it,” she said.
Explaining poetically how fascinating the idea is, she said an actor has to adopt certain expressions and mannerisms that would come out if one were speaking the same language.
Mahira, who steered clear of any controversy in early days of her career, saw a lot of criticism after pictures of her and Ranbir Kapoor in London surfaced. But she has defended herself unabashedly and stood for herself, winning the praising of all and sundry.
The actor also spoke about controversy surrounding her film Verna and news of its possible ban. “It’s life. Stuff happens,” she said, to the surprise of the audience. Explaining that the year 2017 has proved to be quite difficult for her, she said she had become used to things going south.
“But it was good Verna was finally released,” she added.
Commenting on the Ranbir controversy, she said that she has learnt a lot. ‘I have become a big girl now.}
